Judicial and Legal Education Director and Scholar

Giam Nguyen, J.D., is the Judicial and Legal Education Director and Scholar for the Williams Institute. Giam served in the California Attorney General’s Office, first as a Deputy Attorney General and then as a Supervising Deputy Attorney General. He litigated cases on behalf of California officials in state and federal courts throughout California. He also served on a working group with federal judges, prisoners’ rights advocates, and government stakeholders to improve the administration of justice in prisoner litigation in the California federal courts. Giam clerked for Judge Philip S. Gutierrez in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Giam obtained his J.D. from the UCLA School of Law, where he served as the founding editor-in-chief of the Dukeminier Awards Journal. He has a B.S. from the University of California, Berkeley.
