Programs

Judicial Education

The Williams Institute’s Judicial Education Program provides international, state, and federal judges and court personnel with substantive training on legal issues impacting LGBTQI people. Many questions in sexual orientation and gender identity law present relatively new and complex constitutional issues or require knowledge of the most recent empirical research and data. Our trainings provide judges with the legal theories and relevant data needed to make decisions regarding these issues.

Training Faculty

Our judicial training faculty have extensive experience with teaching sexual orientation and gender identity law and are nationally renowned in the field. Our training program is directed by Todd Brower, who has worked with courts and administrative agencies across the U.S. and internationally.

Cost of Trainings

The Williams Institute will pay all costs for the content of its judicial education programs, including travel costs for the speakers.

Types of Trainings

We offer a variety of education and training formats, with the goal of making our judicial education accessible to as many international, state, and federal judges as possible. Our training formats include

  • Live training sessions as part of conferences
  • Live and remote stand-alone trainings
  • Web-based trainings
  • Curriculum development
