Miguel Fuentes Carreño, Ph.D., is the Dorr Legg Policy Fellow and Research Data Analyst at the Williams Institute. Miguel has worked with multiple NGOs in Mexico on human rights for LGBT+ people, incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people, people living with HIV, women, and youth. He’s a regular consultant for the Mexican Federal Senate and Congress. He has interned in the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Mexican Embassy in France, and the UNFPA Egypt Country Office. He participated in the Youth as Researchers Program 2020 from UNESCO to research youths’ access to sexual and reproductive health services during the COVID-19 pandemic. Miguel is the author of articles and book chapters on sexuality studies in the Middle East and Latin America, as well as reports and government guidelines regarding LGBT+ rights in Mexico. He holds a Ph.D. in Global Studies from UC Santa Barbara and a B.A. in International Relations from El Colegio de México.
