Ayden I. Scheim, Ph.D., is a Senior Scholar of Public Policy at the Williams Institute. His research uses intersectional and participatory approaches to address health and social inequities facing sexual and gender minority populations globally. He also leads evidence synthesis and measurement research. Ayden is Principal Investigator of community-based participatory transgender health studies in India and Canada, and of a study developing state-level measures of structural stigma for HIV research with Latine sexual and gender minorities. His research on legal gender recognition has informed international guidelines and legal judgments. A social epidemiologist by training, Ayden received a Ph.D. in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of Western Ontario in 2017 and a BA in Sociology from the University of Toronto.
