Psychological Health among Adult Offspring of Lesbian Parents at a Time of Anti-LGBTQ+ Oppression

A new report from the U.S. National Longitudinal Lesbian Family Study examines the psychological health, well-being, and victimization of adult offspring born to lesbian parents compared to a nationally representative sample in this current era of anti-LGBTQ+ oppression. It was published in Psychology & Sexuality in August 2024.
Highlights
There was no difference in life satisfaction or psychological distress between adult children of lesbian parents and their matched counterparts.
There was no difference in how the adult children and their matched counterparts evaluated their position in society or the frequency of victimization.
Adult children of lesbian parents who were also sexual minorities had lower life satisfaction than their heterosexual peers with lesbian mothers.
