The 21st Annual Williams Institute Moot Court Competition

The Williams Institute is seeking sitting judges, law school graduates, and attorneys to judge the only national competition dedicated exclusively to the areas of sexual orientation and gender identity law. Judges will evaluate the performance of law student competitors to determine which teams will advance to the final round.

The competition will take place at UCLA School of Law on Saturday, March 14, 2026.
Volunteer judges will receive student briefs for review before the competition, as well as materials we have prepared for you, including a bench brief and sample questions. Judges will not be expected to grade the students’ briefs, although your comments to the students are welcome.
Breakfast, lunch, and parking will be provided on the day of the competition. Judges will be responsible for their own transportation to the event.
All judges will be offered up to three hours of MCLE credit for participating in the competition.
UCLA School of Law is a State Bar of California approved MCLE provider. This session has requested MCLE credit and is currently pending approval.
