The 18th Annual Williams Institute Moot Court Competition

The Williams Institute is seeking sitting judges, law school graduates, and attorneys to judge the only national competition dedicated exclusively to the areas of sexual orientation and gender identity law. Judges will evaluate the performance of law student competitors to determine which teams will advance to the final round.

Judges’ Participation

Volunteer judges will receive student briefs for review before the competition, as well as materials we have prepared for you, including a bench brief and sample questions. Judges will not be expected to grade the students’ briefs, although your comments to the students are welcome.

Breakfast, lunch, and parking will be provided on the day of the competition. Judges will be responsible for their own transportation to the event.

Judges may receive one hour of free CLE credit for attending an optional educational session before the competition begins. Presenters will cover the legal issues raised by the problem.

UCLA School of Law is a State Bar of California-approved MCLE provider. By attending this event, you may earn Minimum Continuing Legal Education credit in the amount of up to 1.0 hour of Recognition and Elimination of Bias in the Legal Profession and Society credit.
