Using data from the 2015-2016 California Health Interview Survey, this study examines the health disparities of older adults in the state by sexual identity and Latinx ethnicity. It appeared in The Gerontologist in November 2020.
Highlights
LGB Latinx older adults are seven times more likely than their non-LGB peers to experience serious psychological distress.
In both LGB and straight populations, Latinx people had poorer physical health outcomes.
Among LGB older adults, more Latinx than non-Latinx people experienced poverty.
