International Law and the Expansion of LGBTI Rights in Colombia and the Americas

Throughout the 21st century, Colombia has been at the forefront of advancing LGBTI rights in the Americas. This chapter examines two key mechanisms through which international law has influenced LGBTI rights in Colombia: the legal mobilization by social movement organizations and the judicial dialogue between national and international courts. It was published in the Oxford Handbook of International Law and the Americas in October 2024.
