Andrew Flores receives award for Best Paper in LGBT Politics
Andrew Flores was awarded the “Best Paper in LGBT Politics” at the Midwest Political Science Association’s annual convention in Chicago in April 2015.
His award-winning paper is titled, “Conditional Intergroup Contact and Threat.” The paper examines the effect that LGB density has on individual attitudes about relationship recognition rights for same-sex couples. It considered why some demographic groups may be positively influenced by greater LGB population densities and others may be negatively influenced. The paper found that the effect of LGB populations on people’s attitudes differs by individual demographic characteristics.
