Rachel Dowd, Communications Director
Rachel Dowd is the Communications Manager at the Williams Institute. Before joining the team in August 2017, she had worked in communications for 16 years as a journalist and strategic brand communications professional.
In her previous position as Strategic Director of Marketing and Communications at S. Groner Associates, Rachel helped craft and execute integrated marketing and communications plans for municipalities, such as the City of Los Angeles and the County of Santa Barbara, as well as nonprofits like the Natural Resources Defense Council.
Rachel has been published in a number of publications, including Boston Magazine, Natural Health, the Los Angeles Times Magazine and the Advocate. She has appeared as an expert on the Oprah Winfrey Show, the BBC and KCRW’s Which Way LA and has presented at national industry conferences.
Rachel earned her bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Mathematics at St. John’s College. She also holds an M.A. in Writing, Literature and Publishing from Emerson College.
