Sexual Violence against men and boys in Sri Lanka and Bosnia & Herzegovina

By All Survivors Project
May 2017

This is the first report in a series on sexual violence against men and boys in armed conflict areas. This report analyzes the inadequate documentation of sexual violence, lack of legislation protecting men and boy survivors, and the torture and sexual violence of detainees during arrest and detention in Sri Lanka, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The study conducted interviews with lawyers, human rights advocates, and medical and psychosocial practitioners and found a lack of awareness about sexual violence against men and boys among professionals.

The report concludes with eight recommendations for Sri Lanka to aid survivors and reform legislation.
