About the Play:
Witness Uganda, which will premiere at the American Repertory Theater in 2014 directed by three-time Tony Award nominee Diane Paulus, is the recipient of the 2012 Richard Rodgers Award for Musical Theater.  Through the eyes of an American working with orphaned teenagers, the play explores complex issues of sexuality, poverty, and the politics of humanitarian aid.

About the Guest:

Julius Kaggwa is the executive director of Support Initiative for People with atypical sex Development (SIPD), a grassroots organization in Uganda that promotes human rights for children and adults with intersex conditions.  Julius also plays a lead role in a coalition of 51 Ugandan civil society organizations that is working to stop Uganda’s proposed anti-homosexuality bill.  In recognition of Julius’ work, he received the 2010 Human Rights Award from Human Rights First.
