This analysis estimates the impact of allowing same-sex couples to marry on New Jersey’s state budget. Using the best data available, we estimate that allowing same-sex couples to marry will result in approximately $19 million in State and local government revenues over the next three years.  The weddings of same-sex couples will generate new economic activity for the state’s businesses; the direct spending from same-sex couples on weddings and tourism could generate over $248 million over the next three years.
