Badgett to address S. 811, The Employment Non-Discrimination Act of 2011
LOS ANGELES – Tomorrow, M.V. Lee Badgett will deliver testimony during a 10 am hearing before the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP Committee) regarding S. 811, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA).
As currently drafted, ENDA would prohibit a wide range of employers with at least 15 employees from discriminating based on sexual orientation and gender identity in hiring and other employment decisions. Badgett will present recent research that suggests a clear need for this legislation.
M.V. Lee Badgett is the Research Director of the Williams Institute for Sexual Orientation Law and Public Policy at UCLA (Los Angeles, CA), and the Director of the Center for Public Policy and Administration at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (Amherst, MA).
