Kyle Knight, Visiting International Fellow
Kyle Knight is a Visiting International Fellow at the Williams Institute and a journalist based in Kathmandu, Nepal. As a 2011-12 Fulbright Fellow in Nepal his research focused on the contemporary LGBTI rights movement. He is a contributor to CNN, Radio Netherlands World Wide, IRIN (the UN humanitarian news wire), and the Huffington Post. His writing has also appeared in the Los Angeles Times and The New Republic.
He previously worked at Human Rights Watch in the children’s rights division and as a disability rights researcher in the health and human rights division and has recently co-authored two policy papers on LGBTI people in emergencies. For three years, he worked as a suicide prevention counselor for LGBTQ youth at the Trevor Project in New York City. He currently sits on the Trevor Project’s Advocacy and Public Policy Committee and is the president of the Duke University LGBT Alumni Network.
