Nanette Gartrell Awarded AWP Presidential Commendation Award

Williams Institute Visiting Distinguished Scholar Nantte Gartrell is the recipient of the Association of Women Psychiatrists (AWP) Presidential Commendation Award for her “selfless and enduring vision, leadership, wisdom, and mentorship in the fields of Women’s Mental Health, Ethics, and Gender Research.”

Nantte Gartrell, M.D. is a psychiatrist and researcher whose ground-breaking investigations include the US National Longitudinal Lesbian Family Study (NLLFS), the longest-running and largest prospective investigation of lesbian mothers and their children in the United States. Dr. Gartrell was presented the award by Dr. Patricia Ordorica, AWP President, along with the AWP Executive Council and members at large, at a ceremony in San Francisco in May 2013.
