M.V. Lee Badgett presents testimony on SB 1827, a bill that would allow registered domestic partners in California to use the same income tax filing statuses as married couples use.   Estimates suggest that equalizing tax statuses would result in a very small reduction of income tax revenue of approximately $8 million per year, or less than 0.0001 of the state’s roughly $90 billion budget.
